Welcome to Continuous Play 03, our third mix tape of Oxford bands!

The last couple of years have been tough in so many ways, and with no gigs for so long it was easy to lose track of the new bands and the new releases from old bands. Now that things are starting to pick back up again 🤞 we wanted to dig through the newsletters and social media posts to find the tracks that we missed and give them a chance to reach a few more people.

We weren’t sure if we would even find enough local music to put together a good mix, but once we started looking it quickly became clear that there were way too many great tracks to fit on one tape. And so the fun began. We made lists, listened endlessly, ruthlessly culled tracks we liked that didn’t fit and ended up with a tape that might even qualify as a megamix.

As always, this is our entirely subjective perspective on the Oxford music scene – we’re partial to indie pop, bedroom pop and experimental synth jams. This is not the place to find metal, jazz or showtunes. But only a cold-hearted monster would find nothing to like in this mix. You’re almost guaranteed to hear something new that leads you down a new rabbit hole of musical discovery (Bandcamp links for all the tracks are below!).

There are musicians on this tape who have been putting out music for 4 months, 35 years, and everywhere in between. They’re all Oxford bands (for some definition of that term) and we’re happy to be awkwardly cramming them all into this broom cupboard of a mix tape. Thank you all for your tracks! ✨
